Looking back: SAB-meeting and CID Symposium
27 October: Scientific Advisory Board Meeting
The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and the Steering committee discussed the progress of the consortium, and the recently submitted midterm evaluation for NWO. Three members of the SAB were attending the meeting: Jay Belsky (Davis, USA), BJ Casey (New York, USA), and Annelien Bredenoord (UMC Utrecht).
The meeting took place at Heirloom – venues of , Utrecht Huize Molenaar, Utrecht. The SAB members were impressed by the reports on the four work packages presented at the meeting. They recognised a great deal of refinement of the planned work and progress that took place in the past year. Moreover, the meeting sparked valuable and inspiring discussions. For example, thought was given to ensuring the longevity and productivity of CID cohorts and the role of junior scientists.
28 October: CID Symposium
On October 28 we organized the third CID Symposium. Everyone interested or involved in CID was welcome to join, like (among others) PhD students, postdocs, clinical staff, technical staff and professors. Around 85 people attended the symposium held at De Zilveren Vosch in Utrecht.
We can look back at a fruitful day. Our SAB members and PI’s from the consortium held inspiring talks on a wide spectrum of subjects, ranging from genetics all the way to the ethical aspects of biobanking. There was a successful poster session, and plenty of time to meet the experts during lunch and the concluding high tea.
