Tina Kretschmer receives ERC Starting Grant that extends TRAILS NEXT

Tina Kretschmer, assistant professor of pedagogy at the University of Groningen and alumna CID postdoc, received an European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant for her project “Ghosts from the past: Consequences of Adolescent Peer Experiences across social contexts and generations (CAPE)”. To accomplish the CAPE study objective on intergenerational transmission,  the TRAILS NEXT sample of participants is substantially extended.

The ERC Starting grants of EUR 1.5 million are awarded to excellent researchers to stimulate groundbreaking research in Europe. Tina Kretschmer will use the grant to investigate whether and how peer experiences are transmitted to other social contexts, and intergenerationally, i.e., passed on to the next generation. Her aim is to shed light on how the “ghosts from peer past” affect young adults’ relationships and their children. The project will use data from the TRAILS cohort and, to study intergenerational transmission, the TRAILS NEXT sample will be substantially extended.
