Karin Fikkers defended her dissertation on Thursday, February 25 2016 at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). The results of her thesis attracted attention in the media.

“My dissertation shows that most teens don’t become more aggressive as a result of media violence exposure because of their social environment. For example, for adolescents growing up in a loving family or in an environment that rejects aggression, media violence is not related to increased aggression.”
